It's a desktop search application that provides full text search over your email, computer files, chats, and the web pages you've viewed. By making your computer searchable, Google Desktop Search puts your information easily within your reach and frees you from having to manually organize your files, emails, and bookmarks.

GMail in your Feed Reader!

If anyone hasn’t got the Atom feed, you can find it at https://gmail.google.com/gmail/feed/atom.

Interestingly, you can use HTTP auth. This means you can use the username@password construct in alot of feed readers. Add this to your feed reader:

http://gmailusername:password@gmail.google.com/gmail/feed/atom/

Though its not working for me in my feed reader...

New Google on its way !!!

It seems that Google will be launching a new version i.e. a more upgraded and updated version of the Google Search Service soon. Few of the evidence about it are there are two different Googlebots going around these last few weeks.

One scans deepinside the whole website and the links, while the other just makes a note of the pages in a site's directory. Google is most likely fixing the problems webmasters have been talking about, and we should see a much better working Goooooogle Soooooon.

Google Print

Google Print has been launced by google. Try this search 'mastering digital photography', you will fund a new icon pointing to webpages of the service. The result pages has, scanned images of the book with online shopping links.

These webpages have disabled the right click option as Google assures publishers, the content of the books is protected. Moreover if we access a book so many times, we can find a message like - You have either reached a page that is unavailable for viewing or reached your viewing limit for this book.... in order to protect publishers' copyrights,.

World's Longest Single Word Domain Name Blog

My previous post regarding the "Domain Name Selection Tips" made me to do a crazy thing...

As we all know a Domain names can be a maximum total of 67 characters, including the extension. Some of the longest Domain names in the world were

http://www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch.com
http://www.thelongestdomainnameintheworldandthensomeandthensomemoreandmore.com
http://www.ireallythinkthatthiswebsitenamehastobethelongestwebsitenameever.com
http://www.q.com (Qwest)
http://www.x.com (PayPal)
http://www.z.com (Nissan)
and ya i too tried one. I created a blog with the longest domain name in the world (in blog category)

http://ablogwithlongestdomainnameintheworld.blogspot.com/

Even though its only 50 characters long, i think this would be the longest.

Google News: Beta Not Make Money

Wired states that Google News: Beta Not making money.

When Google launched its news site three years ago, it led to a certain amount of hand-wringing at Yahoo News, MSNBC and CNN. Unlike its competitors, which were forced to budget millions of dollars a year to license up-to-the-minute content and pay reporters and editors, Google had figured out a way to do it on the cheap.

By relying on algorithms, Google News completely automated the news-gathering process. High-speed computers sift through some 7,000 sources of information -- 4,500 of them in English -- and determine which are the most relevant articles. They then grab the headline and first paragraph to post on Google's news page, with the headlines acting as external links.

But, Google has a problem that is nearly as complex as its algorithms. It can't make money from Google News. So while other online publishers like Yahoo News and MSNBC earn tens of millions of dollars in revenue each year and continue to grow, Google News remains in beta mode -- three years after it launched

Digital Camera's first photo.

Ok, Here’s a fun thing to play around with, well not literally the first digital pictures, but images taken from brand new digital cameras. This is a fun Google Hack, that you can do in a variety of ways. Basically a lot of people take their photos and upload them to the web, where the all-knowing, all-seeing Google later catalogs all of them.

So by clicking this link you can see the first photo taken by someone with their new camera or newly formatted card for some cameras, this is what it looks like when thousands of Sony cameras lose their photo-virginity.

For example IMG_0001.JPG is the equivalent for Canon cameras and here’s CASIO, Pentax, Kodak, Konica, Fuji and Nikon.
